Soluna Application Accessibility Statement
Kooth Digital Health Limited (operating in the United Kingdom) and Kooth USA, LLC (operating in the United States of America) own and operate the “Soluna” App are committed to ensuring digital accessibility for individuals with disabilities, and we are continually improving the user experience for everyone by applying the relevant accessibility standards to our platforms
1. Scope & Regional Compliance Status
This statement covers the Soluna application platform. To satisfy our varying international obligations, we manage compliance across two distinct regional frameworks:
- United Kingdom: This statement meets statutory transparency frameworks for digital services operating alongside public health pathways. The application aims to achieve full compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA.
- United States: This statement acts as our formal disclosure and legal compliance documentation under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and relevant APA compliance requirements.
2. Accessibility Documentation & VPATs
This statement covers the Soluna application platform. To satisfy our varying international obligations, we manage compliance across two distinct regional frameworks:
- Our formal compliance percentages, testing documentation, and criteria scores are fully detailed within our current Soluna VPAT (WCAG / Section 508 Edition), which is available to clients and regulatory partners upon request.
- Note: Our baseline metrics are actively updated following our comprehensive external accessibility audits.
3. Known Exceptions & Technical Non-Compliances
While we actively work to resolve all accessibility barriers, we have identified specific elements within the current Soluna experience that do not fully meet WCAG criteria. Rather than delaying our reporting, we explicitly acknowledge these features as known exceptions while our engineering teams build technical remediations:
- Starboard activity
- Description: Starboard activity within the activities section of the app. An interactive dot grid which users select a colour and draw freely which then disappears after a certain time.
- Acknowledge Status: This activity doesn’t meet AA standards.
- Let it out activity
- Description: The “Let it out” activity within the activities section of the app is an interactive function which encourages users to ‘press and hold’ the screen to enable the interaction. The lack of button alternative for this interaction means it’s not accessible to users with keyboards and screenreaders
- Acknowledge Status: Our teams plan to redesign this activity to bring it into alignment with Level AA standards.
- Missions
- Description: Missions is a test feature which is temporarily in the app to learn its value. Within the feature is a star constellation which isn’t accessible to users of assistive technology
- Acknowledge Status: This is a test feature and so will not exist in the app long term. When iteration is made on this feature, this will be improved upon.
- Landscape mode
- Description: When a device is put into a different orientation it should rotate to allow it to be used in that orientation. Currently Soluna doesn’t enable landscape mode as it hasn’t been optimised for this.
- Acknowledge Status: Soluna currently doesn’t support landscape mode.
- Toast notifications
- Description: A type of notification displayed when a new message has been received. These notifications display as a small floating card on top of the screen with the ability to click to view the message. These are usable but disruptive to users of assistive technology.
- Acknowledge Status: We only have one example of this in use which we plan to redesign in the future.
4. Assessment Methodology
Our accessibility claims are validated through a combination of continuous internal product reviews and structured, external third-party audits.
- Our core evaluation strategy makes use of automated and manual testing as part of the design and development process.
- The outcomes of these cyclical assessments are directly integrated into our improvement roadmap. Any issues we cannot prioritise are logged in exception tracking and used to continuously refine this public statement.
5. Feedback and Contact Information
We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of the Soluna application. If you encounter any accessibility barriers or wish to report a specific technical issue on the platform, please contact our teams immediately:
